The holiday went global in 2010! It was listed on the official holiday calendar, encouraging parents to hug their family members. Althought major league baseball and Clear Channel Outdoor didn't get involved this year, Pfizer did.

Due to the long illness of the founder's young teen son in 2010, some of the annual Hug Your Kids events were cancelled. Howevewr, the holiday still went on, and kids still got hugged.

2010 Highlights

1. Pfizer Inc. in the Philippines had TV commercials and other press celebrating "National Yakap (Hug) Your Kids Day." As a result, over 6200 moms uploaded photos of them hugging their kids and promised to hug their kids every day.
2. In Red Bluff, California, Faydra Rector and Jennifer Botell put on a lovely "One Minute Hug" event in honor of youngTommy Botell, who died suddenly in 2009 after an accident on a family hiking trip. Read the article. We had more national media than ever before!
